I hold a PhD in Politics and Social Studies and an MA in International Political Economy from the University of Warwick. In Spring 2022, I was a Visiting Research Fellow at the Center for European Studies (CES) at Harvard University. Additionally, I earned a BA in Economics (Honours) from Bilkent University in Ankara.

Current Projects

My ongoing research project, co-authored with A. Unan and K. Matakos, explores domestic violence and gender in Turkey. Funded by the LSE COVID Research Fund, the study investigates the role of victim-blaming social norms and violence against women. You can access the most recent version of our article via this SSRN.

Another current project, co-authored with M. Khmelnitskaya, M. Muravyeva, and Ann-Mari Sätre, examines gender norms and illiberal democracies, focusing on how Russia and Turkey instrumentalize the traditionalist-modernist dichotomy for authoritarian consolidation. This article will be published in the forthcoming special issue, From Diffusion to Contestation: Understanding Norms in Politics, in the Journal of Southeast and European and Black Sea Studies (2025).
